I’m sharing my January goals on the blog today! I’ve always been pretty goal-oriented, so it was no surprise to my family when I asked for a goal planner for Christmas. Specifically, I asked for a set of PowerSheets by Lara Casey, to help me figure out my priorities and goals for the new year. Though I loved the idea of some help in planning my goals, I have to admit that what really got me was the design. Bright, cheerful, and colorful; I fell in love as soon as I saw it! Much more impressive, though, is how helpful it’s been to me; in just the last three weeks, I’ve seen a huge improvement in how focused I am on my goals. Though we’re only halfway through January, I feel like I’ve already done so much this month!
In just over two weeks, I’m moving to the Netherlands to live with my boyfriend, Ken. We started apartment-hunting last winter, and after “losing” house after house that weren’t really ours to begin with, finally found a nice place in late spring. It’s a three-bedroom apartment with a beautiful view of the park, and only a short walk to our favorite spots in the city. We both fell in love with it, and that’s where the trouble began.
Sometimes, it feels like everything happens all at once. For example, over the summer there was an eleven day period in which I:
- turned 23,
- became an American citizen,
- incorporated my business,
- launched a website, and
- got my license (took me long enough).
And then there are times when it feels like I’m stuck. It’s been just under two weeks since I came home from college for the last time, and in the past eleven days, the most impressive things I’ve done are (barely) survive a few sessions with a personal trainer, and keep my room clean for a little over two hours. And it’s only “clean” if you don’t look in my closet.
You all know Taylor. She’s the one who visited me in Oxford, who I drink tea with on a daily basis, who lives next door to me and puts up with my nightly snoring through the wall. She’s one of my favorite people, and because it’s known around the dorm how close we are and how often we’re together (or accidentally matching our outfits), we thought it would be really funny to send out a joint Christmas card this year. When Minted reached out to me about their holiday collection, it seemed like the perfect fit!
I hope you’re having a wonderful time together with your boyfriend right now! It was so lovely to read all about the things you’re grateful for, not just in your most recent blog post but also on your Instagram all month long. Your posts always make my day!
I’m having a great time at home right now. Unfortunately, tomorrow I really have to get to work on my academic due dates; I have a proposal, an essay, and a big chunk of a manuscript due this week! As I was putting together my calendar of due dates and schedules for the month, I saw that this is one of my last Love and Liefs posts of the semester! I’m planning to write my next one about finals and the one after that about Christmas (!!!!), so today I wanted to share a little reflection on one of the questions you asked me in our very first Love and Liefs posts! You asked me:
