Not-So New Beginnings // Love and Liefs

Dear Shannon,

Your adventures in Amsterdam sound wonderful, and I can’t wait to hear about what you’re doing to explore the Netherlands (and other parts of Europe!). As for me, I’m currently settling into my dorm room for my last semester at our school, Wellesley College. Because I took last fall off, I’m one semester behind, so although I walked in graduation in May, I’m now here for one last round! I’m calling it my “victory lap!”

Moving in to my dorm proved harder than expected. Even though I’m a super-senior, I forgot more than a few things and ended up having to buy some things at Target. Then it turned out that I had left those things with a friend, meaning that I could return my Target items. Then, my water bottle (filled with juice) broke, and ended up ruining the blanket I bought. So no returns for me!

Despite that inauspicious start to my semester, I’m actually really glad to be back. I’m living next to two of my best friends, and I’m so happy to be a part of my dorm community again! Tomorrow I have to switch one of my classes, and then I’m good to go for the semester. I’m taking a seminar, an independent study, and a mid-level history class. I might also add a second independent study, but I don’t want to overload myself, so I’m still deciding.

Today is Convocation, when we celebrate the start of a new academic year. This will be my second senior convocation, and as one of the few seniors who is also “red class” in a sea of “green class” seniors, I’m sure to stand out! (For those of you who don’t know, Wellesley classes each have a color that helps bring us together and foster community spirit.) That’ll be fun, even considering the sweltering late-August heat. I can’t wait for cooler fall weather, when I can break out my cardigans! (;

That’s all for now! I can’t wait to hear more about your adventures soon!
