I received a card in the mail a few days ago, from my good friend back at college. We’ve known each other since our first year, when we agonized over Hebrew homework together; she has been with me in my process of spiritual growth ever since. Along with two beautiful handmade gifts, she wrote of my upcoming confirmation, “I know… that this isn’t just a culmination, but a beginning.”
Today was that culmination and beginning. I had the chance to be confirmed in my church; my favorite small, messy community; my spiritual home. I was able to “make official the process that started within me so long ago.” And when the pastor asked for all those who supported me in this new chapter of my life to stand, my parents, my brother, my godmother, and my friends all stood for me.
And of course I totally cried.
This Easter, as we reflect on hope and new life, I am reflecting on my own new beginning. I am grateful to see how far I have come and how much I have lying ahead of me. And I am excited to share it with you.
Happy Easter, and peace be with you.

Thanks, Alison! It always makes me smile to see your comments! (:
It was a beautiful day in so many ways….promises, hope, renewal, the embrace of church family, some nice sun, and early spring buds. I loved being able to share this with you, and we so enjoyed our afternoon with your family (our extended family)…sharing stories, laughing, being together. I look forward to some good Sara time this summer. Peace! Hugs!
It made me so happy to have you there! Can’t wait to see more of you this summer. <3
