Many of you have followed the success of Advent Illustrated this year. Maybe that’s even how you found my blog (if so, welcome! I’m so happy to have you). I’ve received overwhelming feedback from people who have loved and enjoyed this project. I’ve also learned a few things about what I’d like to do differently in the future. Overall, it’s been one of the best experiences of this year, and I’ve received many questions from people in the group asking whether there will be a similar program for Lent.
Not exactly. But we will be doing something bigger and better!
This year, I will be hosting and organizing a weekly Bible journaling challenge called Seasons Illustrated! Instead of daily challenges and multiple schedules like Advent Illustrated has had, this challenge will feature a weekly verse with a prompt (like in the Advent Illustrated book and eBook), which can be found here on the blog. There will also be a mailing list, so you can get the weekly verse and prompt delivered to your inbox.
The Seasons Illustrated weekly prompts will be be centered around “studies” with short breaks in between, but each study will still only have weekly, rather than daily, verses – so it should be manageable with your weekly schedule, and alongside any other Bible studies you may do!
Why is it called Seasons Illustrated?
I wanted the name of our group to reflect its origins (Advent, a liturgical season), our community (who are all in different seasons of life), and the year-round nature of the new project (through every season). This seemed like a great fit, and will still allow us to celebrate Advent together again next year.
How will Seasons Illustrated be different from Advent Illustrated?
The biggest difference is that Seasons Illustrated will be a once-weekly challenge. Every Sunday, I will post the most recent verse and prompt on the blog, and it will be delivered straight to your inbox. As of the time of this writing, there will also not be a print book or eBook until next Advent.
Where will we share our work?
In the same Facebook group as this Advent (the name will be changed following Advent), and on Instagram using the hashtag #SeasonsIllustrated.
Do I have to join a new group?
Nope! All our communication will be taking place in our old Advent group, the name of which will be modified to reflect the year-long challenge.
Do I need to commit?
Not at all! This is a lower-intensity, lower-commitment version of Advent Illustrated, with the same wonderful, welcoming community. I hope it will serve as the best of both worlds until next Advent!
How do I get the weekly prompts delivered to my inbox?
Easy! Fill out this form!
What will the studies be like? Any news on which topics or books we’ll be doing?
The first study will be on the Book of Esther, and will start on January 3rd! After that study, there will be a one-to-two week break before our Lent challenge begins in mid-February!
Will the Lent challenge be like Advent? Or will it be weekly?
The Lent challenge will be like our Esther study; weekly, delivered to your inbox and on this blog. There will not be a print book, an eBook, or a kids’ edition. I’m saving all that creative energy for next year’s Advent challenge!
I have another question!
Awesome! Ask away in the comments or on Facebook and I will do my best to help!
And as always, thank you for supporting this project and the work I do here at Sara Laughed. Advent Illustrated would be nothing without you – the wonderful, vibrant, creative community that meets in our Facebook group and on Instagram so often. Thank you for the honor of leading this community and for the joy of journaling together. Enjoy the rest of Advent and a very merry Christmas!
I would like to take part in your group. I haven’t joined Advent Illustrated
